They actually look kind of cute... While raw, they smell like broccoli, luckily I like broccoli...
They're going to become Golden-Crusted Brussel Sprouts! Here's the inspiration and recipe:

Getting oiled up and ready to jump into the saute pan...

The little sprouts sizzle away in the pan for a few minutes...

Before carmelizing and turning crispy and golden! A sprinkle of sea salt and fresh cracked pepper...
(I did leave these guys in the pan a few extra minutes because they didn't seem tender to me yet)

A few shreds of cheese, Gouda cheese on one half and Pepper Jack cheese on the other half...

A dinner WITH vegetables! How about that?

And drum roll please.... we LIKED them! I made Kate try one with me at the same time. It wasn't an instant love, but I will make them again! I think they will continue to grow on me.
They were tender, salty and flavorful, and the crispy caramelized sides were delicious! The flavor reminded me a little of broccoli. But I did have to cut mine into smaller pieces so I wouldn't have to keep chewing forever... But all in all, not bad! Woohoo, 1 for 1!
